Originally, Cynthia's position here in Knoxville was to be for four years. We were living in a town house and knew we didn't want to stay there any longer than we had to. The only thing we liked about the townhouse was that it was in a great subdivision very close to the base. We looked at several homes in all kinds of different parts of this area but kept coming back to the fact that we wanted to be close by the base. So when this home went up for sale we jumped on it, made an offer, packed up all our stuff and moved a whole 0.6 miles from that townhouse into 2039 Stonybrook Road.

The house was built in 1979 and at the closing the previous owner bragged that he hadn't needed to do a single update. We knew that. We had already been through the house a couple of times. We loved the layout, the yard and the location and hated the rest. So after redoing every square inch of our house in Wisconsin and swearing I would never do it again, I dusted off my tools and came out of home-improvement retirement. Here are some before and after photos of how I spent my last year.

And please note, all the before photos were taken on our first walk through. None of that stuff is ours!!!!

The kitchen is to the right as you walk in the front door, to the left is the hallway.

The hallway has four doors. To the right are the master bath and bedroom and to the left are the other two bedrooms with a bath between them.

Here's the master bath as seen from the hallway:

Here's the master bedroom. I'm standing the far corner looking back into the bathroom shown above.

Now across the hallway we have what was a guest bedroom:

This room is now Eric Daniel's room:

And the last bedroom is the room I use for my office. The realtor suggested I take down all the cool stuff I had on the walls so it looks a little bare. But not as bare as the before:

There is a small full bathroom between these two bedrooms that they call a Jack n Jill bath. I didn't take a before of the floor but it had the same carpet as the office and the rest of the house! Look close and you can see me in the mirror.

Here's a partial shot of the front of the house the day that Sears delivered the new lawn tractor:

And here's the view from the back deck. Our lot goes down the hill to the line of trees.

It's been a crazy year but we sure have enjoyed our time here. I was telling Eric today that he's not going to remember much, if anything about living here but at least we have the photos. Enjoy the day! Oh and if you're looking for a house in East Tennessee.......
