Bio

Hi There!
My  name is Matt and I write songs. I call my music, “Fun Loving-Sunny-Day, Acoustic Music!” I sing, play the acoustic guitar, piano, ukulele and the harmonica.

I write songs to help me feel better and when I play those songs for folks I hope they feel a little better too.

The theme that runs through my music is something I like to call, “The Fun Side of Life.” It’s about having fun and enjoying yourself as much as possible. It’s about remembering what’s important, staying a kid at heart, laughing a lot and making it a point to look at the world in a way that feels good. As strange as this may sound, think of it almost like Jimmy Buffett meets Tony Robbins (the self help guy!) You’re feeling great with a fun, sunny attitude but you didn’t have to run off to Key West to get that way!

A Few Facts

– I’m originally from Eau Claire, WI (about 90 miles east of Minneapolis, MN.) We’ve moved around a lot but settled back in Eau Claire in August of 2022.

-My wife and I have been married since 2003 and we have two kids, ages 10 and 15.

-I’ve been playing the guitar since I was 11 years old and the ukulele since 2009 and the piano since May of 2020.

-I love to read, I like to run, ride my bike and aside from music, my biggest passion is curling! (the game with the granite stones on ice with all the sweeping and yelling!) I also train in Krav Maga and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

-My dad was a huge music fan and I grew up listening to tons of great singer/songwriters: Gordon Lightfoot, John Denver, Jim Croce, Harry Chapin, Bill Staines, Joan Baez, Kris Kristofferson, Peter, Paul and Mary, The Kingston Trio, etc. etc.

-My Top 5 Favorite Musicians: John Prine, Lyle Lovett, Gordon Lightfoot, Jimmy Buffett and Johnny Cash. But on any given day I could add Jerry Jeff Walker, Todd Snider, Bruce Springsteen, Robert Earl Keen and a few others to that list.
